There are two evidence based mindfulness trainings (MBSR and MBCT)*. See for a more detailed description below.

* Since I am a VMBN mindfulness category 1 trainer, many health insurance companies reimburse part of the costs of a mindfulness training, check out here if this applies to you.

Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR)

The Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) training is developed by Jon Kabat-Zinn in the hospital of Massachusets in 1970. This training was originally developed for patients with chronic pain of which doctors were running out of medical options. In the MBSR training patients learned to develop a different attitude towards their pain, which led to better coping strategies. Currently, the MBSR training is being effectively applied by therapist in people with mild depressive and anxiety symptoms, such as worry, rumination, stress or burn out.

Here you see the book titled Full Catastrophe Living of prof. dr. Jon Kabat-Zinn, founder of the mindfulness-based stress reduction (MBSR) program

Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT)

The MBCT training is also an 8-week training, developed by Mark Williams, John Teasdale and Zindel Segal with the aim of reducing the chance of relapse depression. The MBCT training includes mindfulness exercises from the MBSR training combined with elements from cognitive therapy. In addition to reducing relapse rates in depression, this training has shown to be effective for other target groups (e.g. people with anxiety, medically unexplained symptoms and ADHD).

Joshua

" I really liked that the training was not woolly. It contained concrete examples and actions. It is not like 'Sit for a while and all your problems will be resolved'. The contact with Marleen was very nice, she radiates calmness and warmth and seems to have infinite patience. She was also easily reachable and responded quickly."
